Streetkind Performs @ Grass Lounge

Read more »In sultry south beach, where fantasy meets reality, great sounding, original rock n roll is practically non existent. Blame it on the ravers, or the lack of rock n roll interest, nobody really holds it down in the m.i.a. when it comes to shredding up a stage, until now. World meet Streetkind. When asked what “Streetkind” means singer and co founder Matt Messina replies “where the soul collides with the street you’ll find the kind. We are the Streetkind.” The band has accomplished a tremendous amount of musical success making their first studio album with legendary producer/mixer/engineer Ron Saint Germain (311, Living Colour, Bad Brains, Red Hot Chili Peppers). Thanks to Streetkind, The live music scene in Miami has been given a jolt of electricity last spring and this summer. Streetkind plays all out in local swank venues like “Grass Lounge” located in the hipster ladent design district in miami. You can also find the kind at ”The Florida room” underneath the Delano in South Beach, and an occasional accoustic set at “Shiso Lounge” in SoBe. “The shows have been packed with energetic, beautiful people. We’re stoked every time the Kind come play here” says local guru and owner of Shiso Lounge Tatanka. ”Streetkind puts on a monster show every time they play. They’ve really created a buzz in SoBe.” says the industrious and innovative owner of Grass restaurant and lounge Anthony Campano. Relationships and resources the band has facilitates their ability to put 3 to 5 hundred select people in the house when they play. In a musically starved city, Streetkind pushes ahead with an intensity and vibration you can feel and taste when they perform. Authenticity and flavor make up what many critics are predicting the could potentialy have the stop all and listen effect much like Nirvana had in the early nineties. Streetkind is scheduled to have their official record release party Thursday, July 16th at Grass Lounge.

Rapper T.I. Last Concert Kicked Off by Street Kind

Read more »Miami, FL (Billboard Publicity Wire) February 28, 2009 –T.I.’s last concert before sentencing kicked off by Street Kind. Street Kind is known for living on the edge. The band has created a cultural and artistic movement through out of southern Florida. The movement is growing fast throughout the nation. Rapper T.I. performed his last concert before sentencing at the American Airlines Arena in Miami last night. According to the Associated Press, T.I. whose real name is Clifford Harris, was expected to be sentenced to 1,500 hours of community service talking to youth groups around the country, followed by about 12 months in prison. T.I. Harris is one of Atlantic Records’ most successful artists. T.I.s sixth album, “T.I. vs. T.I.P.,” was released last July. The album debuted at No. 1. T.I. appeared in the Denzel Washington film “American Gangster,” . Harris was arrested Oct. 13, just blocks away and hours before his performance at the BET Hip-Hop Award. T.I. was charged with possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers, as well as possession of firearms by a convicted felon.
Street Kind is working with great musicians like Alex Bodnar, guitarist for Scott Stapp’s Band is also produced by Ron “Saint” Germain. Saint has captured the group’s sound is known for his work with such artists as 311, Tool, Sound Garden, U2, DMC, Mos Def, Sonic Youth, Alien Ant Farm, Living Color, Jimi Hendrix, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Cure, Creed.
